I’ve been getting out through all the snow with only a few missed / cut short rides. Sometime you would have to question the sanity of us trying to ride when we did but I guess that’s all part of the fun. I’m currently off work with man flu so not much riding will be done this week. On the whole my training is staying on plan ish so hopefully will get some good results this year. I’m still getting knee problems flare up now and again but these seem to be fewer and further between. I have found a physio but haven’t plucked up the courage to go and see them yet as I’m sure they will tell me to stay off the bike for 6 months. I will keep an eye on it and see how it pans out.

Recovery from my op in Nov is a little slower than I want. Mainly because work is stupid busy (and skiing hols  ) and I am away alot so not getting as much bike time as I want. My first proper off road ride ended up with me bonking at 16mile

I did a similar route at the weekend and got the mileage up to 20 miles without such a catastrophic failure. Unfortunately I am away again with work for a week so lose momentum.

The good side is the knee is 100% OK and didn't grumble at all whilst I was skiing. :thumb:

Just aiming to be fit for the Dyfi Enduro this year. :)

Glad your knee is finally better Mark. I`m hoping to enter the Dyfi again this year as my mate really fancies it. Having watched last years it reminded me how good the riding and banter were :love5:

After checking out the weather all over the country , I came to the conclusion the lakes were a safe bet :whome: .

so as usual in our well organised mtb world , I called Eric at 5.30pm saturday night and announced that sundays ride was in the Lakes , meet me in Wheelbase car park at 9.30 sunday morning ?. yep i am up for that he said.

My co driver Angie did her usuall mtb morning routine which is 1)get out of bed on the third shout to say are you coming , 2) wash ,brush up, lip stick , etc, 3)come down stairs mummble to me happy valentines day xx, 4) get into the car 5) asked if i have packed everything 5) place head on special car pillow 6) go straight back to sleep all without ever opening an eye to let daylight in. 7) wake up 2 miles from any destination no matter how many miles away and ask " do you whant me to drive ?

We went to Loughrigg terrace and the did our ride around to hodge close iron keld etc in light drizzle but still an nice day , here we met a group from saddle skeddadle tours out for the day including a scicilian guy. well thats unusall, Our ride ended at Bike treks in ambleside where I purchased Angie a new mtb helmet (for a valentines pressie) , We then popped into wheel base on the way home had a long chat with Rusty former mtb britain top poster who has discovered girls and booze and does little cycling at all what a shame :esad: so all in all a good day out then a blast back to Beverley , where my co driver did the same as on the way to the lakes and woke up 2 miles from home and asked "do you want me to drive"

I think i am bieng conned a bit :withstupid:

It was only a matter of time.... He turned up as a keen, green 14 year old and is, presumably a raging hormonal 17/18 year old now?

Good old Rusty.

Sounds like he is going to go the same way as us all. Beer, beer, girls and more beer. Wake up one day in his 30s and think "I had better get fit and loose my beer gut" thinks for five mins then "I know I used to ride a bike" we all know what happens next...yes knee, back and hip problems..

Actually, I think if one was keen enough, I'm pretty sure someone actually predicted that regarding Rusty on MTBB many moons ago. It's inevitable. You can only stay obsessed with bikes so long before some pretty lass stradling a shiny bike catches your eye. Then you're done for... until you're married for three years, the shine has worn off 'er, and you pine for those simpler days that all that mattered was biking with yer mates. :whome:

Just so you blokes don't think I've given up on all forms of exercise, I got out for a little ski last week. Piccies here.

Well after thinking my knee woes were getting better a few weeks ago I got a real bad attack and made my mind up that it was time to ge to the physiotherapist and see what they thought. They couldn’t make their mind up so it was off for a MRI and X rays to see if anything showed up. Im glad I get health insurance with work so got in after only a few days. That showed that was all ok inside and it was back to the physio. I have had three sessions now and things seem to be on the mend. I went out today for a 70 mile road ride and all is OK tonight. Fingers crossed. :?
